This high-quality, illustrated volume tells the story of the creation of the Royal Opera House Muscat, its architecture and magnificent interior design, including the latest stage technology. The reign of Sultan Qabus (since 1970) is considered a time of cultural prosperity. In addition to preserving the traditional cultural heritage, Sultan Qabus introduced new forms of music to further enrich the cultural life of the nation. The diverse programme of the Royal Opera House Muscat offers magnificent performances from Oman, the region and the world. Since its inception, it has hosted the likes of Placido Domingo, Diana Krall and Wynton Marsalis, as well as the Vienna State Ballet, La Scala Milan and ensembles from Asia and South America.
A rare piece of book art, especially in the Royal edition: exquisite combinations of materials, different papers (tip-ins) in the book, interspersed screen printing elements, various embossings made of paper and silk and a magnificent clamshell, a feast for the senses, which we were able to stage together with our project partner, Georg Olms Verlag. Der hochwertig ausgestattete und bebilderte Band erzählt die Geschichte der Entstehung des Royal Opera House Muscat, seiner Architektur und grandiosen Innenausstattung samt neuester Bühnentechnik. Die Herrschaft von Sultan Qabus (seit 1970) gilt als eine Zeit kultureller Blüte: Neben der Bewahrung des traditionellen kulturellen Erbes führte Sultan Qabus neue Formen der Musik ein, um das kulturelle Leben der Nation weiter zu bereichern. Das vielfältige Programm des Royal Opera House Muscat bietet grandiose Aufführungen aus dem Oman, der Region und der Welt. Seit seiner Entstehung gastierten Größen wie Placido Domingo, Diana Krall und Wynton Marsalis ebenso wie das Wiener Staatsballett, die Mailänder Scala und Ensembles aus Asien und Südamerika.
